Advice & service

Good roof lantern advice starts with the question of what you want to achieve. More light in a dark living room, a kitchen that should feel open, or an old dome that has to go. DaglichtDesign has no showroom and no sales process. You get a clear quote, honest advice and everything you need to have your roof lantern fitted properly.

This page sets out what you can expect from us, from the first question through to installation. You get no sales pitch, but a proposal that suits your roof, your room and your budget. If you are right at the start, also read making a dark living room lighter.

Aluminium roof lantern profile with glass unit in the workshop in Barneveld

Roof lantern advice: what we look at first

You do not need to know everything yet. Send a photo or sketch of the situation, with the dimensions you have. A construction drawing is not required. If you have nothing, we come and have a look. Within 24 hours you have a quote in your inbox, with glass options, delivery time and price. That quote is valid for 30 days.

In the quote we put HR++ double glazing and triple glazing side by side. So you see what the difference costs and can weigh it against what it gives you. To prepare, read triple glazing or HR++ double glazing. Unsure about the shape? Mono-pitch or gable roof lantern will help.

  • Which roof type suits your roof and your room
  • Which pitch is needed for good drainage
  • Which glass suits the orientation of your roof
  • Which connection suits your roof covering

Workshop in Barneveld, by appointment

Want to see what you are buying? The workshop in Barneveld is open by appointment. We are happy to show you a finished profile and a glass unit. You then see how the thermally broken frame is put together and what the difference is between HR++ and triple glazing. It is not a showroom, but the workshop where the roof lanterns are made. We share that factory and our building experience with EWG Bouw. Read more about DaglichtDesign.

Installation manual and telephone support

Installation is done by your own contractor or builder. Every delivery includes a printed and a digital installation manual, specific to your roof type. It contains the junction details for EPDM, bitumen and zinc, a step-by-step plan for upstand, insulation and sealing, and safety instructions for lifting and positioning. A CAD file is available on request. More on the contents in the installation manual for a roof lantern.

Does your contractor run into something while fitting? Call on weekdays between 7:00 and 17:00. Then we look for the solution together. Often it is about a detail at the upstand or the connection to the roof covering, and that is usually clear quickly over the phone.

Installation by our fitting partner

No contractor of your own, or no time on their side? Then installation is available on request through our regular fitting partner. It appears as a separate line in the quote, so you see exactly what the delivery costs and what the installation costs. What you can roughly expect to pay for fitting is covered in the cost of having a roof lantern fitted.

Delivery: collection or delivery

Delivery is from 2 weeks after approval. Complex custom work or specific glass choices can take up to 8 weeks. If your build schedule is urgent, ask about the rush option. You collect the roof lantern by appointment in Barneveld, with no delivery charge, or have it delivered on an agreed date. See delivery throughout the Netherlands.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about the Advice & service.

Do I need a construction drawing?

No. A photo or sketch is enough for a quote. If you have nothing, we come and look at the situation.

How do I measure up myself?

Measure the roof opening or the spot where the roof lantern should go, and note the roof build-up if you know it. The steps are in measuring up for a roof lantern. If in doubt, send a photo along.

Can I visit the workshop?

Yes, by appointment. There is no showroom, but we are happy to show you a finished profile and a glass unit. Call or email to arrange a time.

Can you also do the installation?

On request, through our regular fitting partner. The installation then appears as a separate line in the quote, next to the delivery.

How do I maintain my roof lantern?

Clean the glass a few times a year and keep the drainage free of leaves and dirt. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the glass or frame, as they leave scratches.

How can I reach you?

Call 0342 223 190 on weekdays from 7:00 to 17:00, or email info@daglichtdesign.nl. You can also request a quote directly through the quote form.
