What roof lantern installation costs depends mainly on the work around it: the upstand, the connection to the roof covering and the finishing inside. Fitting a mono-pitch on a ready upstand is roughly half a day to a full day for two people. Your own builder installs it, or our regular installation partner on request.
DagLichtDesign makes the roof lantern to measure in its own factory in Barneveld. You have it installed by your own builder or handyman. If you would rather not arrange that yourself, installation is available on request through our regular installation partner. It then appears as a separate line in the quote, so you see exactly what is product and what is installation.
If you are a tradesperson working with our roof lanterns, see roof lanterns for builders for the arrangements on prices and scheduling.
Fitting the roof lantern is only part of the job. First, the roof opening has to be right, to size and square. Then comes the upstand: an insulated kerb on which the roof lantern rests. How that is built up is explained under the upstand of a roof lantern.
Next, the roof lantern is lifted, aligned and fixed. The roof covering is connected to the upstand and everything is sealed. Inside, the reveals are finished. Careful measuring up prevents any adjusting on site.
A 2 to 3 metre mono-pitch on an upstand that is already in place is roughly half a day to a full day for two people. If the upstand still has to be built and the roof covering connected, allow one to two days. A gable or hipped roof lantern takes longer and sometimes needs a crane or aerial platform for lifting.
Builders' hourly rates are roughly between €50 and €75 per hour excluding VAT, depending on region and company. This is a market indication, not our price. Always ask your builder for a quote so you know where you stand. What the roof lantern itself costs is covered under how much a roof lantern costs.
Every delivery includes a printed and digital installation manual per roof type. It contains connection details for EPDM, bitumen and zinc, a step-by-step plan for upstand, insulation and sealing, and safety instructions for lifting and fitting. A CAD file is available on request.
If your builder runs into a question, they can call us on weekdays from 7:00 to 17:00. More on what we offer besides delivery under advice and service.
Not as standard. We make and deliver the roof lantern, and your own builder or handyman installs it. On request, we arrange installation through our regular installation partner, as a separate line in the quote.
A small mono-pitch on a sound upstand is manageable for an experienced DIYer, with help lifting. The watertight connection to the roof covering is skilled work. If in doubt, leave that part to a roofer or builder.
Often not for a small mono-pitch, which two or three people can lift into place. A large gable or hipped roof lantern is heavy and is usually placed with a crane or aerial platform. Your builder arranges that.
