The 1, 2 and 3 metre mono-pitch roof lanterns are always in stock at DagLichtDesign. All other roof lantern sizes we make to measure in our own factory. The limits vary per roof type, from 5 metres in one panel on a mono-pitch to 9 m² of glass on a hipped roof lantern.
Many openings in an extension have a similar width. That is why we always keep three mono-pitch sizes in stock: 1, 2 and 3 metres. You can collect them or have them delivered without production time. We match the depth to your opening, so ask whether your combination is available straight away.
Everything outside the stock sizes is made to measure. For us that is business as usual, not the exception. Each roof type does have a standard range. Within it, we make the glass as one unit, and beyond it we work with bars, segments or a modular build.
One example is the 4 metre roof lantern: not a stock size, but still one panel as a mono-pitch.
A standard size is handy if you want speed and your opening is not fixed yet, for example on a new extension. Your builder then makes the opening to suit the stock size. More on quickly available roof lanterns under a roof lantern from stock.
If the opening is already fixed, as with an existing roof or a replaced rooflight dome, made to measure is almost always better. A roof lantern that fits exactly connects better and avoids adjusting and measuring on the roof. The lead time for made to measure is from 2 weeks, up to 8 weeks for complex projects.
You do not need to think about the pitch. All four roof types have a standard pitch of 8°, enough for good drainage. We match the glass dimensions to that. All you provide is the size of the opening.
Measure the external size of the upstand, not the internal size of the room. Check whether the opening is square and take a photo of the situation. How to do that exactly is explained under measuring up for a roof lantern. A photo or sketch with measurements is enough for a quote within 24 hours.

Not necessarily. The price depends mainly on the glass area, the glass and the colour. Made to measure does have a lead time from 2 weeks, a stock size does not.
As standard, a gable goes up to 6 metres long and 4 metres per slope. Larger is possible modularly. On a hipped roof lantern above 9 m² of glass, we work with segments and concealed bars.
