A gable roof lantern from DagLichtDesign costs from €2,399. As standard we make it up to 6 metres long and 4 metres wide per roof slope. Length, an asymmetric ridge if needed and the glass choice determine the final price.
How much does a gable roof lantern cost? That depends on how it is built. A gable roof lantern has two glass panes that meet at the ridge. That gives a classic look and light from two sides. There is more to it than a mono-pitch: two glass panes, a ridge profile and drainage along both long sides. That is why the price starts at €2,399.
For an open-plan kitchen or a large extension in the middle of the roof, this is often the type that brings in the most light. See a roof lantern above the kitchen for how that works in practice.
As standard, a gable roof lantern goes up to 6 metres long and 4 metres wide per slope. Within those limits, length is the biggest price factor, because every extra metre means double the extra glass, extra ridge profile and extra bottom rail.
If it needs to be larger, we build modularly. The roof lantern then consists of sections that are coupled on site. That takes more profiles and coupling work, but keeps the panels manageable. Also read with or without a glazing bar for the trade-off between large panels and a divided layout.
On a symmetric gable roof lantern, the ridge sits exactly in the middle and both slopes are equal. On an asymmetric one, the ridge is off centre. That may be needed if the roof lantern runs up against an obstacle or if you want to direct the light to one side.
Asymmetric means two different glass sizes. It is just as much made to measure, but the drawing and production are a bit more involved. Unsure about the type? Mono-pitch or gable and gable or hipped will help you decide.
The bottom rails contain a self-cleaning drainage system. Water runs to your existing gutter or downpipe, so you do not need a separate gutter on the roof lantern. HR++ double glazing is standard, and you can choose triple glazing, solar control or obscure glass as options. How the gable compares with the other types is shown under how much a roof lantern costs.
That depends on the width per slope, the glass and the frame colour. The starting price is €2,399 and a long version comes in well above that. Send your measurements and you will have a quote within 24 hours.
It needs two different glass sizes. That makes drawing and production somewhat more involved. The quote shows what it means for your size.
No. The drainage system sits in the bottom rails and carries water to your existing gutter or downpipe. Your builder makes sure it connects properly.
