Lean-toGable
A roof lantern on an extension costs from €1,532 for a mono-pitch and from €1,689 for a wall-abutting lean-to at DagLichtDesign. What yours costs depends mainly on the width of the extension, the connection to the house and the glass. The cost of the extension itself and installation come on top.
The first question for roof lantern extension cost is where the roof lantern goes. If it sits free in the flat roof of the extension, a mono-pitch roof lantern is the most popular choice. If it connects to the taller wall of the house, a wall-abutting lean-to makes more sense. It gives overhead and side light and comes with a connection profile to suit your wall.
With a terraced house there is one more factor: the neighbours. A full-width extension often borders a boundary on two sides. How to connect a roof lantern properly there is explained in a roof lantern on a terraced house.
Many terraced houses are roughly 5 to 6 metres wide. A full-width extension then hits a limit exactly. Up to 5 metres we make a mono-pitch in one panel, with no intermediate bar. Wider, and one or more thermally broken bars go in. That takes more profile and work, and so a different price. Whether a bar bothers you is discussed in with or without an intermediate bar.
Depth counts as well: a deeper opening needs a longer glass surface. If a stock size of 1, 2 or 3 metres fits your plan, it is available straight away. Otherwise we make it to measure, with a lead time from 2 weeks after approval.
HR++ double glazing is standard and usually more than enough for a living room or kitchen in an extension, certainly facing south. Triple glazing costs more and does not always pay for itself within ten years. It becomes more interesting with a north or west orientation. The quote shows both side by side, so you see the difference in euros. The trade-off is in triple glazing or HR++ double glazing.
The aluminium frame is available in any RAL colour. Jet black, anthracite and traffic white are the most popular. Bicolour, with a different colour inside than outside, is also possible.
What a complete extension costs is separate from the roof lantern and varies widely. A rough market indication is in the cost of a rear extension with a roof lantern. Similar ranges apply to a side or rear addition. Your own contractor fits the roof lantern, the upstand and the connection to the roof covering, or on request our installation partner. More about this application is in a roof lantern on an extension.
The mono-pitch starts from €1,532, the wall-abutting lean-to from €1,689. The price for your extension depends on width, glass and connection. With a photo or sketch you have a quote within 24 hours.
We make a mono-pitch up to 5 metres in one panel. Beyond that, thermally broken bars are added, and that takes more material. Sometimes a different roof type is the better solution. We are happy to look at that with you.
Yes. Contractors get trade prices from the first project, with no minimum. You can also order yourself and have your contractor fit it. See roof lanterns for contractors.
