Lean-toGable
A wall-abutting lean-to roof lantern from DagLichtDesign costs from €1,689. It is supplied made to measure, including the upstand and the flashing profiles for your wall. The wall type, the width and the glass choice determine where the final price ends up.
How much does a wall-abutting lean-to roof lantern cost? First look at what it does. A wall-abutting lean-to roof lantern is a mono-pitch whose high side meets a taller wall. You get light from above and from the side at the same time. It is common on an extension against a terraced house, a roof extension or a conservatory.
The difference from an ordinary mono-pitch lies in that wall junction. That is why the starting price of €1,689 is a little higher than the €1,532 of a freestanding mono-pitch. In return, the upstand and the flashing profiles are already included in the delivery.
No two walls are the same. For each wall type we supply the right flashing profile. The junction consists of a wall flashing profile plus an EPDM lead substitute or a zinc flashing, depending on the wall.
On brickwork, the flashing or lead substitute is usually set into a mortar joint. Timber cladding, render, sand-lime brick or concrete panels each call for different detailing. Which material fits where is explained under connecting a roof lantern with zinc and connecting a roof lantern to EPDM.
A wall-abutting lean-to has a standard pitch of 8°, enough for good drainage. Because the high side sits against the wall, the depth of the roof lantern determines how high the junction on the wall ends up. If there is a window, a frame or a roof edge above the extension, mention it in your request. We then check beforehand that the junction fits neatly below it.
An extension on a terraced house is often narrow and deep. Tips for that situation are under a roof lantern against a terraced house. Torn between a freestanding mono-pitch and a wall-abutting model? See mono-pitch or wall-abutting lean-to.
Your builder prepares the wall, sets in the flashing or lead substitute and connects the roof covering. On brickwork, cutting a joint takes a little extra time. On a roof extension with a wall-abutting lean-to, the work happens at height, which may require lifting gear and scaffolding. Ask your builder to price those costs separately.
Because its high side connects to a wall. For that we supply an upstand and flashing profiles per wall type. That makes the starting price €1,689 against €1,532 for a freestanding mono-pitch.
No. You state in your request what kind of wall you have, for example brickwork or timber cladding. We supply the matching profile and your builder fits it following the installation manual.
Yes. Render is one of the wall types for which we supply a suitable junction. State the wall type in your request and the right specification will be in the quote.
